Frequently Asked (but difficult to answer) Questions

WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY PLANT?

This question doesn't have a quick answer. It could be any number of things, so to help you narrow it down you'll need more specific information:

  • What type of plant is it? If you're not sure, feel free to send us an email or Instagram message with a picture.

  • Would it naturally be growing in a wet, moist, or dry environment?

  • What kind of lighting does it need to thrive? What kind of light is it actually getting in your house (how many hours, how intense, and from direction)?

Answering these questions will help you know the unique care that your plant needs to thrive. There is no one-size-fits-all approach with plants!

HOW OFTEN DO I WATER MY PLANT?

It depends on the type of plant that you have, and the conditions in which it's growing. If you're not sure what type of plant it is, feel free to send us an email or Instagram message with a picture. Once you know what it's called, you can determine what its natural habitat and moisture requirements are. Some plants like it dry, some like it mostly moist, and some want it always wet (but still well-drained).Then, check out our Plant Care Basics page to learn the fundamentals of watering your indoor houseplants.

ARE THERE PLANTS THAT ARE GOOD FOR LOW LIGHT?

No. There are no plants that thrive in low light. Some plants would die slower in lower levels of light, but even those are barely surviving. We don't recommend  trying to grow plants in low light, but if you want to try your hand, consider snake plants, pothos, syngonium, or ZZ plants.
